Wind Tunnel -- for iPad app good for
This app is amazing and very accurate.
Importing Png allows very precise models equation.
I found this apps well developed and it will very helpfull in my classes.
I´m a engineer and this App can be very helpfull to me, have no parameters shown how speed and viscosity I´m using but can you have idea what is happening with the wind and the fluid.
very helpful to get understanding aerodynamics on several objects. impressive
please add background picture import to improve drawing quality. more drawing tools would be helpfull as well.
Great simulation, very fluid (pun intended) on iPhone5.
Works great on iPad1 as well.
Only drawback is that the screen boundaries are not detected properly, it varies on each machine... Please test and fix, this is essential for creating funnel type barriers that stretch all the way to the borders of the "tunnel" !!
This app really is awesome, what a great way to understand aero/fluid dynamics. It is a ton of fun and besides the educational aspect it is an great way to kill some time. Instead of paying 10 bucks for board games give this a whirl, you shant be disappointed
One thing though, ability to erase propellers without resetting smoke pattern NEEDS to be in the newest update.
Some bad moments
like it a bunch. recommend you hook up with a .png outfit so one doesnt have to use itunes to import.....itunes is so hogans goat.
it scrambles my desktop way bad, and loses apps, so you have to re-install at itunes notoriously sloooooow speeds....
This app is amazing! To be able to do flow visualization on an iPhone is very cool! I would like to see a library of NACA airfoils, maybe a way to define shapes using coordinates and formulas
Ok, I am a mech engineer and a turbo designer, so I am a bit biased. This app is just outstanding. If you are interested in external fluid flow fun, get the Pro HD version. The price is worth the capability. I have used it to show people simple flow visualizations.
Thanks for the app. Can you make one that shows flow through bends so I can show designers why a tight bend is not a good idea?
This is a great looking app! Great start, but not quiet a pro app yet
Healthy criticism:
Because of the PRO title I hope to see that there is a better way of creating objects. The current draw wall is barbaric at best compared to any real drawing app. Itd be nice to have a way to sketch something out.
It would also be nice to be more specific on the parameter section. I think it would be nice to have this app as an actual tool more so than just a play around with wind tunnel. I really like the lift and drag calculations, and would like to see a bit more of these types of features.
Great Work!
You guys have really improved this app, I would like some more options for drawing walls, but other than that is perfect.
This app wont appeal to the general app buyer except maybe as a way to create beautiful and colorful dynamic designs. But its much more than that. Its a wonderfully well done wind tunnel simulation tool that allows one to explore wing airfoil design, see what happens when angle of attack becomes too great (creates stall), learn how an airplanes wing flaps increase lift (and drag) at takeoff and landing, see how a spoiler on a race car creates downforce to keep it from lifting off the track, see how air brakes work on plane or car, learn why big rig trucks have those strange devices on top of the cab (to reduce drag), design a house and roof that might survive hurricane force winds, design a bicycle helmet that reduces drag, and MUCH more.
Ive played with this for hours (not as much as Angry Birds) and continue to be fascinated with it. The Wright brothers would have killed for this tool. A version of this app will be used in high schools and universities in the near future to teach fluid dynamics and aeronautical design.
The user interface is a bit basic but functional, and there should be better tools for creating new models. Some tools are not named well: Draw Wall is simply a freeform drawing brush. Help screens are marginally helpful. But these are minor complaints considering the overall functionality of this incredible app.
